Terms of Service

Effective: May 11, 2026 · Last updated: May 11, 2026

By using RemoteTaxTrap.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. What this site is — and isn't

RemoteTaxTrap.com is an educational website providing a free interactive calculator and informational articles about multi-state tax issues affecting remote workers. The Site is owned and operated by JaxanPublishing, LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company.

The Site is not:

2. The calculator — accuracy and use

The calculator provides simplified estimates based on publicly available tax rate information. Results are directional indicators, not guarantees of tax liability. Actual tax outcomes depend on numerous factors not modeled here, including but not limited to: deductions, credits, dependents, retirement contributions, capital gains, additional income sources, local taxes (NYC, Philadelphia, etc.), and changes in tax law.

We make commercially reasonable efforts to keep tax data current but make no warranty regarding accuracy or completeness. Tax laws change frequently and may not be reflected in the calculator immediately. Always verify against official state and federal tax authority sources before making decisions.

3. Limitation of liability

Plain English: If you use this calculator to make decisions and those decisions cost you money, we are not responsible. The calculator is a starting point, not a tax return.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, JaxanPublishing, LLC, its members, officers, employees, and any contributors disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Use of the Site is at your sole risk.

In no event shall JaxanPublishing, LLC, its members, officers, employees, or any contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages — including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, tax penalties, audit costs, professional fees, or any other financial loss — arising from or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its content, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

4. Third-party links and affiliate relationships

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including affiliate links from which JaxanPublishing, LLC may earn commissions. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, accuracy, or services of any third-party site. Clicking an affiliate link does not change the price you pay for the third party's service. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

5. Intellectual property

All content on the Site — including text, code, design, and the calculator itself — is owned by JaxanPublishing, LLC or used with permission. The marks "RemoteTaxTrap" and "JPCalculators" are brands of JaxanPublishing, LLC. You may share links to the Site and quote brief portions with attribution for non-commercial purposes. [Template note — delete before publishing]: This is a starter Terms of Service. For a venture you intend to grow, have a lawyer review and customize this — especially the governing law/county, jurisdiction, dispute resolution, and limitation of liability sections. LegalZoom, RocketLawyer, or Termly can also generate one for ~$50–200 if you're not ready for an attorney yet. Also confirm whether you want to require arbitration vs. allowing court actions (most SaaS-style sites use mandatory arbitration; weigh enforceability vs. your audience's comfort).
